Today I want to start with the most common bait and switch tactic in real estate – a tactic that in my opinion is one of the biggest problems facing our industry… for both our clients and us as agents.
For clients it is a dangerous trap… for them it’s often the start of the process of dealing with the traditional real estate industry …
it leads them into poor decisions, often emotional & financial heartache. It leads to more deception and untruths from real estate agents – in attempts to win the listing – and ultimately it adds to why their fees are so inefficiently high …
for us as agents it continues to erode our value in the eyes of consumers – it makes us look like a commodity with little value – on top of that it also looses us energy, time, effort, money and most importantly our dignity and self worth.
Yes I want to put the spotlight on FREE MARKET APPRAISALS…
I also hope to get to some other deceptions – pitched to consumers around advertising – like the line “you can’t sell a secret” and “more advertising means more buyers” … or claims that “we have more buyers than other agents”… all untruths … that well – by now you know how I feel – are spawned from the sales culture.
Now here’s a novel idea – rather than all the cloak and daggers – how about we start telling the truth? How about we be totally transparent … I know – a crazy idea aye … but it’s one on the foundations of our our strategy – to elevate real estate to a true profession – to raise trust and respect with our clients … is simply tell the truth.
So here’s the truth about Free market Appraisal’s
– firstly for clients – then we will look at it from the agents side – we put it to consumers this way… and I’ll warn you now – agents – you may find this hard to hear – but please just bite your tongue and listen as a client… hear me out … then look in the mirror and ask if it’s the truth for you?
